I completely forgot about this. When I was building Gamescope launchers for every distro under the sun, I made a CachyOS version purely for benchmarking — to compare frame rates between CachyOS and Omarchy on the same hardware. Then I went off and built Fedora, Nobara, and Mint versions and this one just sat there gathering dust.

So here it is, finally pushed to public. If you're on CachyOS with KDE Plasma and you want Steam Deck mode, this is for you.
THE INSTALL
Download the script, drop it in your downloads folder, open a console, run it. It handles Gamescope, ProtonGE, session switching, and the Nvidia DRM modeset configuration. Works with both GRUB and the default CachyOS boot manager.
A couple of packages in the script have moved since I originally wrote it so you might see a red error flash up during install — it doesn't affect anything. The script works out of the box.
After install, reboot. Then launch Steam from your applications menu, log in with QR code, go into Settings, switch off the shader cache under Downloads, close Steam properly, and you're ready.
Super+Alt+S launches gaming mode.
THE 4K THING
On every other version of this launcher I hard-cap the resolution at 1440p because Nvidia cards produce screen artifacts above that in the Steam interface. On the CachyOS version I've removed that restriction because CachyOS users tend to be more hands-on and some people say it doesn't affect them.
If it does affect you — and you'll know immediately because the Steam interface will look like it's exploding — just go into Settings, Display, switch off automatic resolution, set it to 1440p, and it'll be perfect. You can still run games at 4K by changing the maximum game resolution separately. It's only the Steam UI that has the issue.
EXITING
Same as the Fedora and Nobara versions — Steam, Power, Switch to Desktop. You're back on your KDE Plasma desktop in seconds.
KDE PLASMA ONLY
This version is built for KDE Plasma on CachyOS. I haven't tested other desktop environments on CachyOS with this script.
