Kodak Vision3 200T – A Quick Look at Motion Picture Film in Still Photography
In this video, I take a quick look at Kodak Vision3 200T, a tungsten-balanced motion picture film that’s been used in some of the most visually stunning films, including Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Asteroid City. If you’ve seen those films, you’ve already seen 200T in action.
Kodak Vision3 200T – What You Need to Know
✅ Motion Picture Film for Still Photography – Originally designed for cinematic use, but works beautifully in 35mm still cameras.
✅ Tungsten-Balanced (200T) – Meant for artificial lighting, but can be used in daylight with an 85B filter to correct the color balance.
✅ ECN-2 Process Required – Unlike standard C-41 color film, Vision3 200T must be developed using ECN-2 chemistry for optimal results.
✅ Two Exposure Variations in This Video – One roll was shot with an 85B daylight filter, and the other was shot clean to see the difference.
✅ Post-Processing Tweaks – I’ll also show the quick adjustments needed to make 200T scans look natural and usable.
Kodak Vision3 200T in Cinema
🎬 Used in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Asteroid City alongside Kodak Double-X.
🎬 Perfect for a nostalgic, cinematic look with fine grain and soft, warm colors when shot correctly.
If you’re interested in another classic motion picture film, check out my Kodak Double-X review—a contrasty, gritty black-and-white film that’s also been used in Hollywood productions.
Final Thoughts
Kodak Vision3 200T is a fantastic film stock that delivers a cinematic aesthetic, but it requires proper handling, filtration, and post-processing to get the best results. If you want to shoot film with a true motion picture look, 200T is an excellent choice.
