OmaAudio is out in beta — a multi-track audio editor and mastering tool for Omarchy that sits deliberately between a basic wave editor and a full DAW. It's built for the editor-to-sound-engineer handoff: import an AAF session from Resolve, clean it up, master it, and export a broadcast-legal mix. But first — Omarchy 4.0.5, a submarine sim, and two plugins I can't stop using.

OMARCHY 4.0.5

Dropped a few hours before I recorded. The stable branch is bumped to Qt 6.12, Wi-Fi code is improved, T2 Mac Broadcom firmware is in, and — if you watched my kernel video — the BORE scheduler kernel is now the default. Greptile has joined as a sponsor too; if you've pushed PRs recently you've probably seen them in the loop.

THERMOCLINE

Pete on Rails — the Vox Type developer — has quietly built a submarine simulator called Thermocline. I'm an ex-submariner, so this is extremely relevant to my interests. I've played it, it's brilliant, and I'm staying away from it until release or I'll lose weeks. Get on the waiting list. I've got my own World War II one half-built after a lifetime of watching Das Boot, because that's apparently what we do now.

PLUGINS WORTH YOUR TIME

Field Notes by OldJoeBobo — sticky notes done properly, with stylus sketching and quick copy-to-AI. GitHub Traffic by Hanko — clone counts and referrers for every repo in your bar. DeckShift has gone bananas, the SteamOS Nvidia patch gets hammered daily, and OmaRaw is still being picked up. If you've got repos, install this.

OMAAUDIO — WHY IT EXISTS

There's a reason editors and audio engineers are different jobs. The proper workflow is: cut the picture, export stems as AAF, hand to the sound guy, get back a legal master, drop it in. Resolve has Fairlight, Premiere has Audition, Avid has Pro Tools. I don't like sporks — I want focused tools. OmaAudio isn't Pro Tools and isn't trying to be. It's the piece in the middle.

WHAT'S IN IT

Take view — traditional single-track wave editing, select a region, right-click to add effects.
Arrange view — multi-track with fade handles and master volume per track.
Sound — polish, even out, presence, pause removal, target loudness, and recipes like one-click podcast voice cleanup.
Spectral — repair view for fixing coughs, clicks, and noise in specific regions.
Mastering — full mixdown, selected tracks, or individual stems, with broadcast targets: EBU R128, 24-bit 48kHz WAV, -23 LUFS, plus YouTube and streaming presets. Analyse the mix before export.
AAF import — bring in a session from Resolve with video reference track, place by timecode, relink and detach when the picture changes but the audio hasn't.

It ships with a stack of audio plugins including the Calf suite. I demo it with a stems session and an AAF from a Resolve edit of the upcoming OmaEdit promo.

BETA RULES

Bugs on GitHub please, not feature requests yet. Nail the problems first, then add toys.

WHAT'S NEXT

OmaImage and OmaVector are still deep in PSD and Illustrator compatibility testing. OmaEdit is the big one — it has to be right because I'll be using it for work. And I've started thinking about an OBS replacement built properly for Omarchy in Qt and C++.
