A bit of everything this week. Omarchy news, a remote desktop tool I've wanted for ages, two new OmaTools apps ,a font manager and an image-to-3D generator , and a look at the living desktops I've been building with them. Plus a proper ramble about why compatibility, not features, is the only thing that matters when you're trying to replace Adobe.

OMARCHY NEWS
SpaceX AI are now sponsoring Omarchy with 1.5 million Grok tokens. ARM development is accelerating — the team bringing Omarchy to M-class Macs are geniuses, and that work is now spreading to Snapdragon. And 4.5 is in development on the edge branch, which brings me to...
GLYPH — REMOTE DESKTOP FOR HYPRLAND
This is the tool I've been after for years. Glyph is remote desktop for Hyprland — log in once, then drive another machine graphically over Tailscale. It's on the edge branch now and will ship in 4.5. I immediately built a plugin for it: a bar panel listing my machines — the M2 Mac running Omarchy, a 2018 Mac Mini — click one and you're in, with all your keybindings intact. When you're building graphical software across several boxes, terminal-only remote access doesn't cut it. That plugin is going on the repo and the store.
OMAFONT
Full-tilt font management for Omarchy — the Font Book we lost when we left Mac. System fonts, user fonts, duplicates, variable weights, character maps, PDF specimen export, activate and deactivate, and licence notes per font. That last bit matters: one unlicensed font slipping out in client artwork is the kind of mistake you can't take back. It'll also set your terminal font system-wide in one click. There's a lightweight plugin version on the store and the full app on the repo.
OMAMESH — IMAGE TO 3D
You've seen the subscription services where you upload a picture and get a 3D model back. OmaMesh does it locally. Drop in any image, pick high, standard, or low depending on your VRAM, and it generates a textured mesh you can inspect on a turntable — clay, normal map, wireframe, studio or dramatic lighting — then open directly in Blender. It's built on the Trellis model, so you'll need a Hugging Face read token and a 30GB weights download. Works on Nvidia and AMD (16GB cards tested). I couldn't get Intel going, sorry.
WHY I BUILT IT — LIVING DESKTOPS
Describing a fishing boat or a yacht to an agent produces rubbish. A picture paints a thousand words. OmaMesh gives Claude a proper model to work with, and then the trick: split a video of a fish swimming into frames, hand those to Claude, and it builds the skeletal animation in Blender. That's how the aquarium desktop fish move. I also show a beach desktop that runs all day with joggers, dogs, divers and boats appearing randomly, and a descent-into-the-abyss desktop that got completely out of hand.
THE COMPATIBILITY RAMBLE
Someone released a full Adobe suite clone last week. Fair play — but it doesn't work for me, because looking like Photoshop isn't the point. Compatibility is. Not everyone is leaving Mac and Windows, so a PSD has to go out of my tool identical to how it came in, or the next person in the chain gets burned. We've been able to half-open these files on Linux for years.
Everything's on the repos and omatools.org. Go make something.
