Omarchy TV is a community project by Marco that puts the Omarchy look, themes and plugins on Google TV, Android TV, LG and Samsung sets — no root, fully reversible — and I've been having far too much fun with it.

WHAT YOU GET
A proper Omarchy launcher on the big screen: your apps, your widgets, plugins, web apps, settings, and the home button always drops you back into it. Install the companion plugin on your desktop and your theme syncs straight to the TV — switch themes at your desk and the television follows a few seconds later. There's a remote control panel in your bar too: home, volume, sync theme, apps, settings, jump straight to YouTube.
The screensavers are the bit that got me. CineMarchy picks up the Omarchy screensavers — DHH's, the aquarium, orchids — and runs them on your TV. There's an AI creator, Omarchy widgets, layout settings for Hyprland-style arrangements, and options like apply-on-connect so it reapplies every time the TV wakes up.
THE META BIT
I was fiddling with capture cables for OBS and thought, hang on. So I wrote a small bar plugin called TV View that bounces the television picture back onto my desktop, with mouse control. So I'm driving Omarchy TV from Omarchy, watching it on Omarchy, and the first thing it showed me was my own channel. It is a bit slow over the wire and probably not how you want to watch telly — but it works, and I'll publish it if anyone wants it.
INSTALLING IT
The easy way: open Claude, paste the Omarchy TV GitHub link, and tell it what you've got — "I have a Google TV 4K Streamer on the network, install this". It walks you through pairing step by step. When I first set mine up the Google TV launcher kept grabbing the home button back, so I sent a PR and Marco merged it — there's now a switch to make sure home always returns to Omarchy TV. Google TV is confirmed working, Sharp Aquos and the Android TV emulator have rough edges, and Marco is upfront that it's early — expect missing features and bugs. It's in the repo with an install guide, and I think there's even a bot that does the install for you.
WHY I LOVE THIS
We've put up with terrible TV interfaces for years, and now everyone's waking up to how much tracking is baked into them. Omarchy TV proves you don't need to build a TV OS — you just build a skin over the one you've got and purge the garbage. I'd love to see more people pile in and get other TVs supported. I've already got my eye on an old Apple TV to crack open, someone's working on Omarchy for iPad, and I want to see it on a fridge.
